A little closer to Little Liam!

We got our referral for Liam right before Thanksgiving! We are officially his, and he is ours! Today I got an update on him. It says he is outgoing, a little naughty, and eats everything! He loves sports! The most recent weight and height measurements show that he is almost exactly Jaci's size (within 2 pounds weight and the same height). Jaci is 18 months older than him. I hope she doesn't mind the fact that people will probably think they are twins! The other medical issue he had has been cured! It looks like we'll get to travel in February or March which is what we thought. The kids are staying here in the States with MomC.

Prayer Requests:
1. For Liam...that he will not be traumatized by the adoption. We pray that despite his lack of language and communication opportunities, he will have an understanding of what is about to happen. We also pray he will learn sign language quickly.
2. For our other kids. We pray they will be able to welcome him into our home and learn how to communicate with him easily and readily.
3. For Jay and I as we travel.

ARGHHHH!

Well I only thought I was finished with paperwork. Because of the strict strict strict rules with adopting a child from China, I am forced to redo a few things. Since we moved to Deer Park and changed jobs, we had to get a homestudy update, new employment letters, new financial documents, yada, yada, yada. In the meantime, other documents that weren't affected by the move are close to expiring and are at risk for having to be redone as well. Today was stressful to say the least. I felt better after talking with my agency rep and a lady at my school district who's helping me with a letter I need. We're going to make a couple more modifications and then turn in what we have and hope China accepts it.

I am asking for prayers that the solution to the paperwork battle that my agency rep and I worked out today will be acceptable to the people in China who are reviewing our files. If they return our paperwork and have us redo it, we could be talking many more months before we get Liam.

What gives me peace is knowing that God is in control of the whole situation. If we are set back, it's for a reason. Little man may not be ready for us just yet!! (or us ready for him)

Love,

Erin

Welcome to the Stokes Family blog! I have set this up to blog about our family (outside of Facebook); more specifically our latest member waiting for us in China. Soon we will go to China to adopt William Samuel Huaibaio Stokes (Liam for short). He is 5 years old and deaf. At this time, we do not know how he is communicating other than gestures. We are anxious to get him here so he can have a family and start learning language. The whole family is thrilled about seeing him soon. It'll be a few more months I'm sure. We will post news and updates on our progress as we get it! Thanks for following us!
